Does anyone know if there are any lightweight NON-Structural firefighting gloves used for Extrication or Rescue, Similar to Leather Work gloves. That are Bloodborne Compliant, and what are your policies on extrication on use of gloves? Do you have to use Structural FF Gloves or any kind you would like to?

We use a standard leather work glove with
re-inforced palm protection, wearing N-Dex Nitrile gloves under them for protection against bloodborne pathogens. The Gloves cost less than $15.00 a pair, so if they get contaminated, we just dispose of them, and issue a new pair.

We do the same as Chief 50. Our personnel involved in extrication wear leather work gloves over a pair of latex gloves is there is any danger at all of contact with body fluids. It also helps protect them against other fluid contact, such as hydraulic fluid, diesel, gasoline, etc. Works pretty well.

We also do the same as those above. We are free to wear what we want but the majority of us wear a set of medical gloves under a pair of leather gloves, insulated pair for the cold winters. I wouldn't recommend using only a pair of leather gloves due to the large numbers of fluids found at accidnet scenes. Gregg

Our people use structural fire fighting gloves with standard latex gloves underneath. Saves time in fire situations where you need the protective glove. I've also seen those "Red Ball" gloves used for extrication not a problem as long as you don't use them for fire suppression operations.

Hello
We also use Leather gloves w/Latex underneath, but Galls and others sell Exrication and Rescue gloves that are thinner, but still protect your hands.
