I'm a volunteer Firefighter in a small Indiana town but I work as a paid EMT for a local hospital. Recently I watched a show on TV named "Rescue 77" and thought that the show was serious flawed. They had nice equipment but they need better writers. It appeared to me that the paramedics on the show all had a bad attitude. During the pilot episode they showed one paramedic assaulting a citizen and then later another paramedic was throwing syringes at someone backed up against a bulletin boards during a party. The second show continued to show paramedics in an unprofessional manner.
I haven't watched since due to my work schedule.
I would like your opinion on the show if you've seen it. (Personally, it kinda reminds of when "ER" depicted the paramedic Shep as being a violent sociopath.)
Thanks,
Mike

It can only be hoped that the general public knows that this show is not based on any form of reality. It is nothing short of an insult to firefighters and ems providers nationwide. Can you imagine the repercussions if any of us acted the way that the medics do on the show. The public, our customers, would have our heads. Our administraters would have our jobs. My opinion: It stinks. I hope the show is cancelled soon.

I haven't seen the show yet, but from what my buddies are saying, I may watch it if I'm feeling down and need a laugh! There is another good thread on this in Firefighters Forum...check it out if you haven't seen that one. There was a good response from...I forgot who... about the value of the show in putting/keeping us in the public eye and he/she had a great idea...explain to your non-fire service friends and neighbors (if they ask) about the fallacies (fantasies?!) and tell them the way things REALLY happen. Maybe the exposure is good even if the storyline stretches the truth or incredibility? (I bet the Navy still laughs at Topgun!)

There is no doubt in my mind that Rescue 77 is the worst depiction of the Emergency Services to EVER hit the airways. I should have learned my lesson after watching the first show. When the one medic literally did a hand stand on his victims chest to shock him becasuse he was in water was just outrageous. Later on in that show after the lady was stabbed by her boyfriend, on the way to the hospital the victim asked the female medic "am I going to die" and she said "yes". I almost fell off my chair.
I could go on for hours but just based on those two observations I do not like that show. It does not depict Emergency Services correctly. It should be cancelled
ASAP.

That showed sucked so bad!The handstand in water and the sceen in the back of the ambulance with the stabbed girl was truely the worst thing i've ever sceen on tv.The guy under the slab of concrete was just amazingly extricated,no air bags no jacks or anything. The show was bad bad bad.

Reccue 77 was a good idea but it was done poorly. They should listen to advisors and make the show realistic

After 22 years in the fire service, 17 as a paramedic, it saddens me that we are represented by such horrible shows. The scenes of handstands, the stabbing victim be told that they're going to die and her reply of "please don't mutilate me" are dangerous to our profession and our image. It is obvious that the producers of this show has not utilized a consultant, or if they have, obviously they are inexperienced and in a dream world separated from reality.
