I am looking for information about how to go about doing a feasability study for fire based transport. This is just for myself so it is not really critical time wise. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Firemedic...not really sure what you mean by fire based transport...? We also run EMS for city so I guess that's fire based? (We have 5 ambulances at certain stations with two reserve.) City of Odessa Texas recently shut down a couple of their ambulances and made all engines ALS...they call ambulance for transport if/when they need it. Haven't seen any of their members on here but you could probably write or call them, I "assume" they did some kind of feasibility study to justify the change in their response. Hope this helps...I can tell you more about our system if ya need it...LW

Hey firemedic1, There is a volunteer department here in my county that 3 years ago got into the EMS transport business. They went through the entire process of specing EMS transport units to hiring career staff and working out a volunteer schedule for thier EMS providers... The coordinator for that department is Alan Matheny, and I am sure he wouldn't mind helping you out, as he and his department has gone through all of this. Tell him I referred you... His screen name is Para269 @ AOL.com... The department is The Vol. Fire Co. of Halfway MD., and they can be reached at (301) 582-2223. Hope I helped.
