Howdy.
I've heard some debate over POV light units, and was wondeirng what others feel about it. Which is better? A deck blaster strobe light (Multi bursts), or a Dash Laser (Rotating device with mirrors)?

Hello, yes thats a pretty big discussion around here, Our Dept Decided a while Back that ONLY Officers can utilize Emergency Warning Devises on P.O.V.and that they must meet the State specifications as found in the Vehicle Traffic Code and since it requires 360 degree vision Dash Lights were out of the question,, We only have five Officers so The Department Bought Mini Edge Light Bars with Magnet Mounts so if the Officer Lost his or Her Office it could be given to the next Officer,, The Strobes are O.K but after Looking at them during Day Time Calls it does seem as If the Halogens on Our Vehicles are Brighter and Better seen By Traffic.

OOooo, get rid of the dash lights (at least as a primary warning device). 360 degree roof lights (type is up to you) are SO much safer...

WHILE I SGREE THAT 360 IS THE SAFEST WAY TO GO...I HOWEVER UTILIZE THE FIRE BEAM ROTATOR ON MY DASH..ALONG WITH A MINI BAR ON THE REAR DECK...TO ADD SAFETY YOU MAY WANT TO CONCIDER STROBE HEADS IN THE CORNER LIGHTS UP FRONT...HOPE I HELPED!!!!!

Whatever you do, make sure that you or your Department follow all the rules/regs and Laws that are applicable to you. It just might come back and bite you in the a** at a later time.
I do agree that 360 degree protection is the way to go, I don't necessarily know how you want to do it. I have seen many a vehicle with 'Strobes 'O' Plenty', and you can't really miss them. On the other hand, A full lightbar on any vehicle is pretty hard to miss. Personally, I like the strobes.

A few years ago, I picked up a Fire Beam w/lens and it worked rather well.... flashes during the day seem better than strobes.... but that also seems to be the opposite at night... so I then purchased a Dashmiser/Halogen... I was actually suprised to see that the halogen (140 comet flashes/min) works well in both the day, and the night. But I also agree that 360 warning is the way to go.... technically, if your vehicle was an actual emergency vehicle, 360 warning is what you are required to have, it has now even leaped into intersection lights, ect... so those requirements must have been made for a reason... its the safest. But ultimatly, my preference for personal vehicles, which isn't as costly as it could be, and for safety purposes, I think would be a little
strobe in the rear and
anything in the front (grill strobes, dashlight, whatever....) Will serve the purpose...

No matter what type of visual warning you use, nothing clears them out like a 100 watt siren. And in most states sirens are required if you run warning lights. Personally I think the more lights and sirens you have on POV's equals more adrenalin and more problems. I'm real careful with who runs these and their level of training and experience.

I prefer my DeckBlaster mounted tot he rotatiing asssembly of the DashLaser.... I changed the power supply to the random flash on a quadflash unit and changed it to twin flash units with hipower strobe tubes.... along with that I mounted a four color dome on a rotator...

You should see this beauty..... I call it the "WACKER SPECIAL"
