Has any one else been trying the new all in one patch for 12 leads? Sorry I do not recall the name they are using for it. We were supplied some free ones and an attachment for our LP12. It is one pathch you locate V1 and V2 line it up straigt and is used for small, med, and large which is set by how far you place the connection into the port. I have not got to use it yet. Seems like a good idea but I was wondering how it would actually perform on all different shape and sized patients.

We are starting to use it now. As far as I know it's only been used once so far with good results. It's called a "uni-lead" and is made by Medtronic Physio-Control. I believe it is compatible only with Physio-Control Lifepak 11 and 12 monitors. I am also curious to see if people are using it and what the results have been.

I saw them at the State EMS conference a couple weeks ago. I talked with several people and it is a good idea, however, it is disposable, so therefore, it is disposable income. You can not bill for these patches that are a little costly and the patient should not have a hairy chest. I may be worng, but I have been told to stay clear of them. I am interested to see what the popular consensus is.

We are using the "uni-lead" in our dept. the first day we got them, we had a call where we could use on so we thought we would try it. when we got into the hosp. we compared it to the one that that ER had done and guess what, they was almost exactly the same, so I would say they they actually have something that might work.

Our Fire-Rescue organization is supposed to switch over to the uni-lead. It is supposed to be an easier application.
I'd sure like to hear from somebody who's used them successfully.
I'm willing to be open minded about anything new.
What about diaphoretic or hairy patients? Does this mean more shaving, drying, or tincture of benzoin?
What's the cost compared to just using the electrodes we currently use on our LP-12?
Do the uni-leads capture the rhythms better?
I'd appreciate any responses.

I've used the new unilead 3 times in the field. the first 2 pt.'s i had no problem with. the last pt. was an over weight(of course) female. i had to cut the plastic backing on it so that it would properly fit under her breast. the real problem with doing this is that cuting the plastic leaves SHARP edges which lacerated our pt. I think they are great for normal size non-hairy men only, or for your EMT to apply if your like me and don't always have another medic with you. They seem to be accurate, but you can put the regular leads on just as fast.

i dont mean to sound like an idiot, but I have never heard of a one patch 12 lead. I have always been accustomed to the 10 patch system. how exactly do the uni-lead hook up, and how do they get the wrapped view of the heart like the the 10 patch system??
