I am a junior fire ems explorer and have a personal jump bag assigned to me. I carry it with me to all of my high school wrestling teams practice and games to provide bandage care and first aid for other injuries I was wondering if any other ems units send their ambulances to all sports activities or just select competitions

My dept. is only fire-centered. The "town" and college ambulance corps all send a crew to all sporting events, and to any other event where there are lots of individuals gathered (parades, concerts, etc).

We stand-by at our High School football games with the fire department's first responce / rescue unit. It's good PR for the department. We do not charge for nor are we given donations for this service.

Most of the high school teams have their own trainers with them. As far as kid's sporting events, there are a lot of firefighter's kids in the leagues, and the parents usually know where to find us. We are only a call away via the 911 and cell phones. There are occasions that a team will hire one of our Department's EMT's to do an EMS detail. Those assigned will have a portable radio to contact Fire Alarm and a complete jump kit to start care. Each medical detail also receives an incident number. Any time a patient requires transport to the hospital, that gets it's own incident number.

We as a volunteer first responder fire dept. standby with our rescue van at all the home team football games and have a least 2 medics with the truck. Also the local ambulance service sends one ambulance to each game to quick transport any accidents or injuries to the hospital as we do not transport patients. The school also has a sports medical doctor at all games.

Since I work for an ambulance company I can tell you that we do tons of events. They can range from little kids playing football, high school football, pro-hockey and baseball, concerts at the arena to everything in between. Most of the time we're sitting there with the perverbal thumb up our butts being bored but there are times that we are extremely busy. i.e. concerts!!! Sometimes we are with the college EMS crews but most of the times we put an extra truck or trucks on to cover that certain event.

WE GO TO HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL GAMES , PRO BOXING FIGHTS , COUNTY FAIRS & LOCAL HARNESS TRACK. WE WOULD ALSO GO ANYWHERE SOME ONE WOULD WANT US. GUYS GET PAID EITHER OT OR DETAIL PAY DEPENDING ON SET UP OF CONTRACT. WE ARE PROFESSIONALS , WE GET PAID. I DO NOT SEE DOCTORS OR NURSES OUT AT THESE EVENTS UNLESS THEY ARE PAID......
