What does the future hold for Tactical EMS. I'm doing a feasibility study to convince my chief there's a future in it. Your opinions are more than welcome.

Well your question may not be easy to answer and most of your answers are within your own geographical Location,, Who would you Support Local P.D. or County Ops, How Often is it Needed, How much Time and Money must be invested to keep it Running, All these are questions that may be answered first,, Then are you a Peace Officer will it be a requiement who foots the Bill, Training when and How Much,, Who or What Dept Purchases the Equipment,, Here we Have 5 Tac Medics we provide Off Site Coverage for ALL High Risk Warrants, Narc Labs ect,, Our On Site Coverage occurs with Hostage Situations ect,, we Train with the Tac Team Three Times a Month, our Dept REQUIRES you to carry Firearms, you must also be cert Peace Officer (you may not be able due to Local Restictions/Dept Regs ect. We had to Purchase our Own Equipment Level 3 Vest Helment, Gas Mask, Med Bags ect. If your Dept/ County is doing alot of Raids ect then it will be worth while if not it may just stagnate,, We average about 5 Callouts a Quarter and have only responded to one Incident,,, Officer Fell off a Porch and Fx Leg,, However the Sheriff feels it is better for us to be close than have to wait for a EMS unit,, We practice ALS protocols and have a excellent rapor with all Law Enforcement Agencies in our area,, Talk with all agencies involved and build your case on Officer Safety,, Large Incidents are truely Rare even though they make great Press,, its the every day Raid/Warrant Service that gets Officers Killed or Wounded every Day... I hope this Helps
