Okay, so here's the deal....

I am a 15.5 year old female. I have volunteered at a local hospital for over a year and a half, mostly in the ER. I really would like to become an ER physician and I thought I'd learn a lot by volunteering there. They don't let me do much besides transport patients and change the linens.
I am looking for something that I will do more medically, so I thought I could become an EMT and do that for a living during college and still gain experience. I live in Southeastern PA. I'm interested in an explorer program. How do these generally run? What type of things can they actually do? Is there a cost for being in the explorer program? I heard that they train you w/ CPR, first aid and possibly EMT later, does that cost you?
I appreciate any and all of the responses I may recieve.

Thanks!

Check with your local EMS squad, whether they are volunteer or paid. Each Explorer program is different, so will allow you to help with patient care while others will restrict you to only fetching the equipment. However, if this is what you are interested in, anything is better than nothing.

Good Luck!! ;)
