Hello to All,

Just curious if anyone else is upset about the 2003 FEMA Grant. I just downloaded the grant application rules and requirements. The main ruling for applying for this grant is that you have to provide fire suppression. If you do not provide fire suppression, you cannot apply for the grant. My department provides just about everything EXCEPT fire suppression. We provide all the EMS transport, extrication, off road rescue, rope rescue, just about everything except fire suppression and still we cannot apply for this grant. A fire department can apply for medical equipment even if they do not currently provide that service. The grant is going to be giving out$750,000,000.00 to fire departments across the country, that is alot of money JUST for fire department.

Spread the wealth!

I never realized that EMS providers that did not provide fire suppression could apply for the 2002 grant.

We're building a brand new headquarters, money's getting tight and we can't afford an exhaust removal system... not a first priority but a a nicety... it's become a high priority on the chopping block to put us under budget. The people from the exhaust company suggested the FEMA grant, and we don't qualify because we don't already have a multi-million dollar budget to go put out fires. Sheesh... Granted we're building a really nice new headquarters, but for almighty's sake we're working out of a shack with the ambulances parked in a lot. Our fire department's budget makes ours look like my first allowance. Anway.. rant over.
