Ohio just passed law to carry concealed handguns.

What do you do when you find your patient is carrying and you are already transporting.

SOP's?

Are all pt.'s frisked??

Lock system for the gun in the Medic?

What to you do?

Thanks for any advise.....

I posted this question a while ago when it looked like the law would pass.

Then you wouldn't ever get to use your signature line. :D

Frisked, not by that name. All patients get a complete secondary exam. Remember checking all areas for DCAP-BTLS?

Seriously, any patient that I have any concerns gets almost every area of their body palpated. I've found several knives that way. My observation is that most LEO's are pretty good about frisking patients, but they tend to focus on pockets and ankles and aren't as thorough in checking other areas.

I'm planning on just being even more thorough.

I plan on getting a CCW permit, too. However, I won't be carrying on duty. I'm fortunate that the only reason I'm likely to need a firearm is to put down an injured deer.
