im a new member here and also a aha cpr instructor, for about 3months now. just curious, i have done the friends and family course, but i was kind a nervous. will this go away after you teach all of them? and how much do you charge ( ball park) for bls recerts? i was thinking maybe 25.00 each. is that too high or too low?

After about 5 or 6 classes, you will start to feel more comfortable. I charge $20 for recertification and $25 for all new classes with a minimum of 6 people. If they want to class with less people, then I will charge them equivalent to the same price as a full class. Just remember that AHA recommends not holding classes smaller than 3 people. I then include the CTC card charge in with these fees. My CTC charges $2.00 per card.

Good Luck!!

I'm a Red Cross Emergency Response (aka First Responder) instructor, so I teach all the levels of CPR, first aid up to FR, AED, etc. I've only taught as a volunteer for a Red Cross Chapter and internally at my previous employer.

It does get easier with practice. The more you do a particular course, the more comfortable you become.

I'm affiliated with a local hospital so don't do any classes on my own. I believe they charge $15 per student and will not do any classes for less than 6 or more than 20. There is a $3 charge for the card which they now require for all levels. I realize that this is not a money making proposition for them but more of a public service that they provide to the community. Any one else still uncomfortable with not checking pulses by the lay CPR provider?
