What is the future of EMS in America? "All we want is a seat at the table... no one every listens to us." Are we missing out on critical funding from HomeLand Security? Is it time to move away from the fire service umbrella?

On EMS Live we are going to look at these issues and announce something big!

Why does it have to be EMS VERSUS FIRE, why can't we just get along?

Also, buy some f*cking ad space instead of spamming this crap every week or whenever...

Where i am from in Pinellas county Fl EMS and Fire work hand in hand...while there are little tiffs here and there the system works. Fire shows up first with ALS engines and iniciates care and then EMS shows up and transports.

Because he can't make a living unless he stirs the pot. He stirs Fire/EMTs and hope they will flock to his site. He is the hammer that drives the wedge. Hey webteam this is a POST you should delete. Unpaid for ads.

from what i can tell, emslive does NOT charge money for it "shows". so i doubt that jbignell is making cash off the site or shows.

i dont see some online talk show as driving wedge between fire and ems. fire and ems do that sh+t themselves.

sayin'.

John is a good guy, having talked to him on a couple of occasions last year, and I don’t view his site as spamming. I would go so far to say that he does a commendable job of keeping many EMT's and Paramedics in touch with current events, especialy since He's in Canada and most of his audiance is in the US! In fact, I bet of he was on here saying "Ohh you fire men are so kewl!" you would probably nominate EMSlive.com for website of the year (right after firehouse.com of course). COnsidering that among the other web sites linked from firehouse is a DATING SITE FOR FIREFIGHTERS (god! can the agony ever end!), I think his site adds a much needed touch of class here.
On the Fire vs EMS topic:
I personally liked the article in FireEMS mag this month, the editorial, talking about the "storm clouds forming" and the growing dissatisfaction with the way fire treats EMS. I recommend that every Fire Jihadist (god I love that term!) read it and actually do something novel, like put the same emphasis on EMS that you do on fire suppression (what a novel idea!), instead of sticking your head in the sand, pretending there is not a problem, and berating people like John for trying to pull you head out so you can see!

If you did that, then I would have to find a new voodoo doll to stick my pins in, one with out a fire hat on it. If this site is any indication, I will be using stick pins for years to come!

Yours truly...Steve "The Third Service Elitist".

Most website like the posting...some don't. Plus they normally send me free stuff for commenting on the show about their site or service. I have a lot of coffee mugs and don't drink coffee:)

If you don't stir the pot it will just burn and boil over. I give people a place to vent.... I still work in the trucks, EMS Live is just a lot of fun...and less about money and profit! Doing something without the need to make money??? .... EMS Live is the way I wanted to stay up to date as a medic and no one was doing it!

Thanks croaker260 for the kind words! I did read the EMSFire article and found it very interesting. The article in EMS magazine (June 2005) I found also very good, we will be talking to the author David Powers tonight. He asked the question: "The Redheaded stepchild: Does EMS belong in the fire service?"

Isn't the internet about sharing, communicating, and exchanging? I never saw anything at EMS Live that was spam? How did it become about money and advertising?

I don't know the guy, and its not about do I like his site, the content etc, etc. I look around and everywhere I see business ads for this and for that except his business ads are here in the forums. The forums isn't the place for EMS Live or any other vendor to hawk their site. EMS Live even has a policy for vendors and others who want to place ads on their site. Though I'm not a subscriber, EMS Live request those wishing to place ads to contact them about a a spot or a banner, as opposed to post your link in our forum. Least we forget, EMS Live is a business. My complaint to the web team addressed that issue, i.e., business advertising in the forums. Fire vs EMS, its really a non-issue except by those who choose to make it one.

If you stir the pot too hard it splashes over and become a fire. I guess it's great you are still on the units. And I am glad you still love it. You remind me of the freeloader that doesn't want to pay for supper at the station, but is willing to eat the leftovers. After all it will just go to waste. If you want the benefits of advertising here pay for it. I'm sure they have ample banner space to lease you.
Advertising should be at the top, bottom, and sides not buried inside the POSTs.
