i recently failed the written test for nremt paramedic test twice! Both times only by a few points but the first time was cardiac, and the second time was in trama. please if anyone has any good study guides let me know. Every study guide i found they all claim to be the best.

Do you have problems taking tests, or do you just not know the answer to the questions asked? There is a big difference in the type of help you need.

It sucks but most tests now are looking for "THE MOST CORRECT ANSWER". This means that there might be 2 answers that are not wrong but one is more right than the other. This causes the test taker to actually demonstrate more than superficial knowledge of a given subject. This can cause problems when you are trained as a "protocol medic" or your training is specifically designed for a given area. There are many medications that can be given by medics in some states that cant be given in another. So, when youre asked a question about which med to give, its not always the one that your system uses.

"protocol medics" are those medics that cant seem to operate without protocols. In other words, unless someone sits down a writes a specific protocol for every possible call, they become useless. I remember going thru the academy with one that asked everyday "when are we gonna get a copy of the protocols?" She was completely useless in practicals stations and totally unable to function on her own knowledge. She needed somebody to tell her "when you see this, do this." Its been the downfall of EMS for the past 10 years or so.

I found that the most correct answer in the test was the most basic one. If you have somebody unconscious, 1st is oxygen. Simple answers like that get overlooked and missed. Make sure you dont forget your basics before you use your advanced skills on the test.
