I recently took a class at school and i received a card from American Red Cross:
Responding to Emergencies.

Is that is First Responder Certification? i've tried to contact the teacher, but no luck....

Also this is my first post, awesome site guys

I know that the Red Cross has a First Responder class that follows the DOT guidelines. Not sure on the name of the calss however. Check there website though, that may help.

How long was your class? If it was 40 hours (32 +8 of CPR) it was probably a first responder class. If not, it sounds like it's a glorified first aid.

+1.

I believe the minimum amount of hours for DOT curriculum is 40 or 44. In TN, we're closer to 60.

As I recall, you're right, it's 40 for DOT, but 8 hours of that is CPR. At least that's what the course I teach that's National Registry curriculum lists for hours.
