we can and do. some providers charge a flat rate ie. BLS, ALS1 or ALS2 depending on treatment. In my service we have to note any items used in a pt's care, even gloves.

Most services have a flat fee, a mileage fee and then charge for everything use. Some things are grouped under one fee such as bandaging supplies - one fee covers from 1 4x4 to 100 4x4's... but to your answer yes they bill or individual items along with flat fee and mileage fee...

Personally I always thought we should bill by the pound of the patient.
Lbs. X # of lifts = Total Cost.
That would be great.

It probably depends on your state rules.
In Alabama we cannot itemize. It is a flat rate plus mileage.
I do, however, like the by-the-pound idea! :D
