Sounds great, congrats. I finished EMT-B about 2 weeks ago. I am about to take National Registry real soon.

Congrats also on your first test, but don’t let it get to your head. If your curriculum is the same as ours your first test should have just been Introduction to Emergency Medical Care, The Well-Being of the EMT, and Medical, Legal, and Ethical Issues. Pretty much the easiest part of the whole enchilada. Just wait until you get into the actual medical parts of the class such as all of the Medical Emergencies (respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological, diabetic, allergic reactions and envenomations, substance abuse and poisoning, environmental, behavioral, obstetrics and gynecology, and general pharmacology.) And that’s just medical. Then you get into trauma which is another ballgame too. Personally I found trauma easier than medical, but that’s just me.

My class started out with 15 and we ended with 5, myself included. So study study study!!!!! And do not hesitate to ask your instructor any questions you have. That’s what saved me was asking questions. Statistically more people fail EMT-B school than EMT-P.

Also, if I may make a suggestion, you may want to reconsider going straight into Paramedic school once you finish Basic. People have done it, but it is highly recommended that you should spend some time as a Basic first before choosing to become a Paramedic. Some say you can’t be a good Paramedic unless you are a good Basic first. But its 100% totally your choice.

Feel free to shoot me an e-mail or private message anytime you want to if you have any questions. kevo1986@canufly.net

GOOD LUCK!!!!
