to become a emt in the US do you have to do a course and the state exam? or am i just being fed all the wrong info? if i am, what is the actual exam process to become an emt/paramedic privately?

yes you take a 3 month class than at the end depending on the state you take a state and or national exam

Something like 34 of the US states require testing by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians, and most of those require that you keep current with the NR. And the remaining do not use the NR at all and still have their own testing, and NR is optional. I don't know of any that require testing by both NR and the state. Anyone know?

It completely depends on the state you will practice in.
