BARTOW – July 18, 2008 – A recent surprise visit from the State Department of Health rated the Polk County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) as “excellent” -- efficiently run and well maintained.
Polk County EMS received a surprise inspection at two random stations from state Department of Health inspectors Thursday and received rave reviews. Inspectors reviewed station 12, located in the Cypress Gardens area and station 9 in Auburndale.
“The citizens and visitors of Polk County and the state of Florida can be proud of the professional service you provide,” said inspector M.M. Shelly Lewis. “Keep up the good work.”
The state’s “no notice compliance inspection” rates EMS departments on a variety of components including: management of personnel records, service records, facility inspections, Advanced Life Support ambulance inspections, and equipment test results inspections.
“I have witnessed literally hundreds of similar inspections over the years, most by far being with advance notice, but never remember one with such outstanding results as this one,” said Public Safety Director Jim Bell.
