I just finished my schooling (ECT) and have a job working for an ambulance company. I was just wondering since I completed an ECT (Emergency Care Tech) course, does that rank me higher than a person who only did a EMT course. The only difference I see is that I became EKG certified and certified in Phlebotomy.

Just finished school or State Certified?

If state certified, I'd say that it depends completely on your state's scope of practice models for ECT and EMT....

On the other hand.... "rank?" I'd have to agree with, no.

I dont think its an actual title, the name of the course was ECT. In that class I learned phlebotomy, EMT, EKG, and CEVO

this is the school I attened and it talks about the program.

So your school is in CA, which means you're nationally registered as an EMT-B, and state certified as an EMT-1, correct? Am I also correct in believing you don't have a national or state certification as an ECT? In which case you might be more attractive as a future employee (particularly in the hospital setting, I would think), but wouldn't per se "outrank" an EMT. Just like most states don't require medical assistants to have a certification/license, but someone who's a CMA would have a better resume.

I think I understand your situation now.... And my answer is... IF your company recognizes the ECT training and has protocols for a scope of practice applicable to your training, then your company may rate you as higher qualified than an EMT-Basic.

The real question is, does your company protocols include ECT as a recognized provider and provide you with protocols specific to your level of training? If not, then the answer is simply no. If yes, then the answer would be, yes, to the extent of the protocols applicable to your training.
