Does anyone have a copy of the ems training video commonly called "Man without a face."
It begins with training video of the airway anatomy and then has a real life case with a man who shot himself in the face.

Did not know that there was such a video, but I did have a call like that, and the man was still conscious and ended up living. I guess it was one of those once in a life time calls....

I have seen this video several times at airway and trauma lectures. I don't know where you could find it, maybe youtube?? I also had a call such as this where the pt. was shot in the face with a shotgun and had virtually no structures left from the bridge of the nose down. The pt. was awake, very alert and maintaining their own airway. I use that call as an example when I am precepting new EMS employees. With the exception of the 2 IV's i started, that call was treated using very aggressive BLS skills(positioning, suctioning, hemorrhage control) and the pt survived.

My guy was missing from his forehead down and as far back as to where his jaw met his neck, and he was fighting us , he ripped out IV's, and it was just amazing, no land marks at all. The initall crew was about to RSI but I felt like that was a bad choice. We were going to cric, but someone was on the phone with the doc, and we just had to put him face down on a board, and fly him ASAP with a lot of suction on the way.
Just out of curiosity, how did you position your patient, and how was the hemorrhage being contorolled. We didn't really get to do that to him wanting to get up and all.
