Right now I am studying to get my EMT-B in FL and was actually considering moving back to IL after I finish. I was wondering what I would have to go through to do that. Can I take my NREMT in FL and then would my certificate be good in IL? ...or do I wait and take my NRMET in IL? I am pretty much just hoping that it is not required that I go back to IL and take the program all over again. Any input on this would be much appreciated. Thanks

Your NREMT score, assuming you pass, allows you to work as an EMT Basic anywhere in this country.(USA) You may take it wherever you would like seeing that your pass would be good for wherever you decide to move to in the future. All you would need to do is possibly take some CE and local protocol classes as well as affiliating with whatever County you decide to work in.

There are a couple of states that still have their own state EMT-B exam that may need to be taken regardless of having your NREMT or not. I believe Illinois used to be one of those states and it would be advisable to give their board a call.

Florida recognizes the NREMT-P test in that it allows you to take their state exam for your FL license. Other than that, the NREMT-P is not recognized in FL.

One still has to apply to each state for licensure/certification after passing whatever exam required.
