I am looking for a paramedic school in massachusetts. I have researched basically every one out there and still can not choose. I have a BS so i do not need a college program. My only requirements are great hospital and ride-time sites. I really like the Pro EMS program in Cambridge, but am not sure how i feel about its militant structure. As far as location is concerened i live in the northeast part of the state but am willing to travel within reason.
...Any insight?

How far are you willing to travel? Are you looking for a medic cert or a degree program. Elliot Hopsital in Manchester used to have a cert program. There are two programs in Portland (I am starting to precept another student this month who is from Derry, NH

It is about 1.5 hours to South Portland where they have two programs. One an AS and another is a much shorter cert program put on by the local EMS regional Council. I think the cert programs may have a tough time coming up as I had heard that the Registry was going to stop testing people who had not gone to an accredited program. I do not know the status of that.

The cert program is done by the region. Here is their website;

The education section is in the tool bar to the left. It says they are scheduling and taking apps for the 9/09 program. The program head is a Marc Minkler who writes a monthly column for EMS Magazine. It is a pretty respectable program under his leadership.
The other is the one done by the Community College;

That program has improved quite a bit over the years under a new leader. They pack a lot into two years.
In both of these programs as in ALL programs, they produce some great medics and not so. The key is the students level of motivation.
Both of these programs are in South Portland.
