Default Riding with your supervisor.

I'm a brand new EMT, I've only had about a month on as one; and last week I had the oppurtunity to ride with the current chief of my squad. Well, to give you a brief description of my feelings I was extremely nervous. Now, although I'm a rookie I'm not clueless. However, whenever I tried to do something I would mess up causing me to feel like a complete idiot.

For example, the stretcher didn't want to raise for me, I forgot how to bleed the oxygen cylinder, little stupid things like that, that I've done hundreds of times sucessfully.

For future reference, is there anyway I can ease my nerves and not feel as idiotic when I'm riding with a supervisor?

Thanks,

Such a stupidity happens and happens quite often with all of us no matter in what field we are. Nothing to worry about.

Default I have ridden

Being a volunteer support person for our local rural fire department while waiting to see if our Chief Of Medical Services can get another EMT class going, I have ridden with the Fire Chief and many Officers and haven't been nervous, going on Medical and Fire calls, but have learned from them and their many years experience, so learn from your supervisor and enjoy.

Thank you all very much.

I'm really happy to hear in your responses that this sort of thing doesn't happen to just me.

Whenever I recieve criticism I just suck it up and tell myself he wants me to be a great EMT!

:-)
