The latest EMS Magazine Insider features a preview of the September issue of EMS Magazine, and an exclusive interview with author Dave Williams of Fitch and Associates.
Dave talks to EMSResponder.com about his September article, “The Ideal System Model Myth,” in which he discusses different system models such as private, fire-based or third-service, and why there is no such thing as one ideal model, but rather a whole host of local factors that drive what is right for each community.
During this interview, Dave shares his personal experience as an EMS provider working in various models, and his experience with this issue as an EMS consultant. He also discusses why some providers have strong preferences for different models, for logical and emotional reasons, and how this debate led him to write the article. Finally, Dave shares his thoughts on how EMS as an industry can come together while continuing to provide service in so many different ways.
