This position is responsible for conducting classroom instruction, recruiting and advising students, addressing student program concerns; participating in the assessment, development, planning, implementation, evaluation and promotion of Emergency Medical Technology educational programs and associated clinical education. Examples of job functions are:
- Classroom instruction, recruiting and advising students, addressing student program concerns;
- Serves as liaison between students, sponsoring agencies, local medical community and state level certifying/licensing agency and ensures students receive their certification material in a timely manner;
- Coordinates the scheduling of students with clinical sites, facilitating orientation to sites and functioning as emergency contact;
- Oversees use of facilities and equipment for EMT program;
- Develops EMT programs, coordinates curriculum design, development and implementation of credit and non-credit courses, evaluates and monitors progress, assists with affiliation and accreditation efforts, and supervises and evaluates faculty and program coordinators;
- Ensures compliance with Tennessee Board of Regents guidelines, licensure requirements, and other state and federal regulations while maintaining the program consistency with EMS Standards; submits required reporting to state and national agencies;
- Develops outcome-based criteria that demonstrates skills-based enhancement and cost effectiveness to the corporate community;
- Assist with the development of department budget; and
- Identifies new courses and programs.
Associate's Degree with five (5) years full-time experience in Emergency Medical Services in educational administration OR a Bachelor's degree with two (2) years full-time experience in Emergency Medical Service in educational administration;
Licensed or certified Paramedic and EMT and meet requirements established by the Commission of Accreditation of EMT Equivalent academic training and preparation;
Hold all credentials for which the students are being prepared in the program or hold comparable credentials which demonstrate at least equivalent training and preparation;
Superior ability to communicate orally and in writing; and
Extensive experience in clinical practice.
Collegiate level teaching experience preferred.
