Provide direction and leadership of the overall education and training programs provided to First Responders, EMT's and Paramedics by KCTCS and KBEMS.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES of this position include but are not limited to:
- Takes the lead role in the development of EMS (Emergency Medical Services) educational curricula, including those for certification and licensure, recertification and licensure, and specialized retraining or bridge programs.
- Ensures educational and training programs are compliant with national standards, as well as applicable state and national laws/regulations, and KCTCS and KBEMS policies.
- Provides assistance, information, out-reach, and routine education information to members of the EMS community, including individual certificate and license holders as well as ground and air ambulance providers.
- Coordinates the implementation of EMS educational opportunities into the KCTCS colleges curricula/offering; in a variety of educational delivery methods (online, distance learning, etc.).
- Assists Board Counsel and the KBEMS Investigator with cases as requested and approved.
- Assists with the development and preparation of regulations, policies and other guidance as required.
- Performs official visits to EMS educational institutions to monitor and provide oversight of classes, instructor performance, administrative record keeping, student performance, etc.
- Attends meetings as assigned, including meetings of task forces, committees and the Board. Serves as an advisor and staff resource to the KBEMS Education Sub-committee. Represents the organization with the National Association of State Emergency Medical Service Officials (NASEMSO) as the State EMS Education Director and routinely participates in teleconferences and other activities/meetings. Attends/presents at local, regional, state and national meetings as appropriate and approved or assigned.
- May assist with scheduling meetings of the KBEMS Education Sub-committee and other education related task forces as assigned.
- Frequent in-state travel and occasional out-of-state travel.
