Lane Community College is seeking an innovative and participatory Emergency Medical Technician and Paramedic coordinator/EMT instructor to collaboratively develop and implement a program of library instruction, instructional support services, and collections which further the missions of the Library and the College. The selected candidate will fulfill the functions in a manner that promotes quality of student learning and fiscal sustainability aligning with the college's core mission, vision and strategic direction. http://www.lanecc.edu/hp/emt/index.htm

HEALTH PROFESSIONS
The Health Professions Division offers a variety of programs and classes to assist individuals wishing to enter healthcare careers. The excellence of each program is evidenced by our graduates' high scores on licensing board exams and rapid employment. All programs are accredited from governing boards.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Selected Candidate: Successful applicants for this assignment shall be required to pass a pre-employment background check.

REQUIRED EDUCATION

  • Bachelors degree required in health, biology, EMS or related field required.
  • Must be certified in the following:
    1. Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) -instructor certification
    2. Pre-hospital trauma life support (PHTLS)-instructor certification
  • AHA or equivalent basic life support instructor
  • Must be a certified paramedic in good standing with the State of Oregon Department of Human Services: Emergency Medical Services and Trauma Systems Division OR Nationally Registered Paramedic and meet Oregon EMT reciprocity requirements by hire date.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
3 years pre-hospital emergency and non-emergency medical care experience as a paramedic
AND
Must have completed or in process of completing prior to hire date one of the following:

  • National Standard Curriculum for EMT Instructors, US Department of Transportation, 1986 edition;
  • National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Fire Instructor II program
  • Instructor Development Program (40 hours) as provided by the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training
  • OR
  • a minimum of 3 college credits in adult or vocational education theory and practice presented by an accredited institution of higher learning; Experience with EMS electronic data management coupled with quality assurance / improvement experience.
