In this still photo taken from surveillance video provided by the New York Civil Liberties Union, Esmin Green, 49, lies face down on the floor in the psychiatric ward of the Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y., as a security guard wheels over in his chair to see her Thursday, June 19, 2008. Green had been waiting in the emergency room for nearly 24 hours when she toppled from her chair at 5:32 a.m. and lay writhing, face down on the floor. The guard didn't leave his chair, rolling it around a corner to stare at the body, then rolling away a few moments later. Green was dead by 6:35. Faces were blurred in the video provided by the NYCLU.

patient dies on the floor
I have never in my life heard of such disgusting, patient treatment. People treat animals better .We have people that raise a stink when an animal is treated poorly. Doesnt the state have any basic regulations for patient treatment.I think all those involved need to be treated the same way.Sentenced to three weeks in that facility and see how they like it,and the state should pull up their boot strapes and straighten this facility up.they spend billions on a war,and forget about the people in their own country.Absolutley discusting.

Disregard for Human Life
This is a problem that can get to be out of hand. The ERs are so overcrowded due to the low employment and non-Insured that people are sometimes left for hours to be treated. The security guard that was too lazy to get out of his chair and check on this women or even summon help should face more than being Fired. We as health care providers need to have the patients in mind no matter how busy we are.

abanded patient when in need
Lets not make excuses for behavior like this. It wasnt just the security guards fault it was the entire staff on duty should not only be fired but brought up on charges with the state. We have a saying in EMS, first do no harm and. They allowed this women to die on thier floor and didnt bother to give a darn about her, they abanded her. If that was any one of the EMS providers they would be up on charges.

This says more about the state of our human species than it does only about that "hospital." Have we become as heartless as inects?
