Salisbury, N.C. Firefighter Victor Isler, who was killed battling a lumber yard blaze on March 7 along with fellow Firefighter Justin Monroe, will be transported to Long Island, N.Y., following today's funeral at Catawba College in the North Carolina town.

Isler, 40, and Monroe, 19, were part of the hose team that was first to respond to the morning fire at the Salisbury Lumber Company. Five other firefighters were injured in the blaze.

Isler -- a former FDNY EMT -- moved to Salisbury last summer to become a full-time firefighter. He was previously an FDNY EMT and a volunteer with the Deer Park Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife Tracy and their 15-year-old son and 13-year-old daughter.

Visitation for Firefighter Isler will be held Sunday, March 16 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Christopher T. Jordan Funeral Home, 302 Long Beach Road, Island Park, NY 11558.

A burial service will be held Monday, March 17 at 11 a.m. at St. Charles Cemetery in East Farmingdale, N.Y.

All fire department personnel planning to attend are requested to arrive in full uniform.
