Illinois EMT Honored at Funeral Service

EMS responders share some of the most meaningful cases of their careers, sometimes with humor and always with compassion. We hope that they will help us improve your practice and inspire a new generation of caregivers.
BELLEVILLE -- Fire and emergency vehicles from more than 25 area departments were represented at the Belleville funeral for a MedStar Ambulance emergency medical technician.
George G. Schaub III, 23, died Saturday while on duty at the company's Washington Park office.
Schaub also was a firefighter and explorer trainer for the French Village Fire Dept. He had been a member of the Villa Hills Fire Department since he was 13.
Firefighters and EMTs from the area attended the funeral services, held at Renners Funeral Home in downtown Belleville. After the service, the firetrucks followed the hearse and family members as they made their way through town for the burial at Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Belleville.
