I dont mean to sound morbid here but give me a break! If a civillian fails to yield to an emergency vehicle they deserve what they get. Too many times people dont yield, cut us off and even get irate and give obscene gestures and yell. I dont feel bad at all for this man. I do feel bad for the poor ambulance crew. Im sure the local media will be out for their jobs and want charges pressed. If these guys work for a private, I bet theyll be fired so the company can "save face" and make it seem like theyre doing something.

Comment from NY Medic
Dear NY Medic,
Get real, dude! I, too, feel for this crew. But Im appalled at your sense of entitlement to the right of way over innocent people who dont make emergency decisions for a living. We kill somebody every week in incidents like this one. I dont think that makes the public stupid. I think it makes us stupid. I think its inexcusable.

Thom Dick,
Obviously, you dont work in a place that is highly populated with residents that dont care about anyone except themselves. Not only do we have to deal with people on the road that sometimes outright refuse to move (a few times Ive had people get in our way on purpose and laugh at us),any good we do is either ignored by the media, or the Fire/Police Dept gets all the credit. The only time we get in the news is if something goes wrong. I dont mean to get off topic, my point is: anyone that does something stupid in front of an emergency vehicle operating with due reguard, lights and sirens, deserves exactly what they get and will recieve no sympathy from me.

This is in response to the NY Medic, you obviously arent getting all there is to this job. We should never wish malice upon people even if they do reckless acts. Maybe I am misunderstanding your views, if not you really are missing out what "the Job" is all about!!
